It’s no secret that I like reading. It’s also not a secret I may have a problem with buying books. I kind of found a solution by getting myself a Kindle for my birthday a few years back and signing up for the local library last year.
However, I still ocassionally buy books and today is one of those days. I got the Bulgarian translation of “Blood over Bright Haven” by M. L. Wang. As per the summary on the back it’s a dark academia fantasy. I have zero idea what to expect. I never read anything from the author, though I recently obtained another of her books – the newly pulished “The Sword of Kaigen”. And I also have never read a dark academia piece of literature. I am familiar with the aethetic and the premise, just not from up close.
So, since this book will go straight to the bookcase at home, as well as my never-ending TBR (it’s actually there for about 4 months), I can go on a rant about the cover. I checked different editions from all over the world and while the Bulgarian cover seems as similar as possible to the original, it is still not as good as I would like it to be. And then there are amazingly beautiful special editions.
I am already planning on tearing up the covers and DIY-ing a hardcover version with some illustration.
